Students like Myles Slade-Bowers remind us of how far Pennsylvania has come with education reform.
Myles was supposed to attend Steelton-Highspire High School, a school chronically rated as one of the worst-performing Pennsylvania schools. On top of that, Myles has a rare eye condition that requires frequent breaks and extra recovery time.
Myles’s mom knew her son needed added flexibility and support to succeed academically. Bishop McDevitt High School, a nearby top-tier college preparatory school, was the best option. But McDevitt’s tuition was not financially viable for this single mother of three.
