TV Ad Exposes Shapiro as “All Talk, No Results”

Harrisburg, Pa., July 25, 2024—The Commonwealth Foundation today released a new television ad that exposes Gov. Josh Shapiro’s leadership failures and his inability to obtain significant legislative successes. The ad will run this weekend and next week in Washington, DC and Pennsylvania media markets, airing on CNN and MSNBC, bolstered by a companion digital buy. The ad campaign is aimed at reminding Shapiro about his unfulfilled commitments to Pennsylvanians, while educating reporters, delegates, and concerned citizens about his record as governor.

“All Talk, No Results” Television Ad Script

Meet Gov. Josh Shapiro. He promised to get stuff done, but he’s failed at governing. Shapiro was even forced by his own party to veto his campaign promise of scholarships for kids trapped in failing schools. Shapiro promised to cut red tape and reduce taxes, but he hasn’t delivered. He made get sh*t done his slogan, but Shapiro was Pennsylvania’s least effective governor in at least 50 years. Josh Shapiro: All talk, no results. Pennsylvania deserves better.

In addition to the new TV and digital buy, the Commonwealth Foundation has run full-page newspaper ads in The Washington Post this past Sunday and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel during the Republican National Convention. It will also appear in the Chicago Tribune during the Democratic National Convention.

“Despite talking a big game, Shapiro has struggled to govern,” said Commonwealth Foundation Senior Vice President Erik Telford. “He promised to reach across the aisle and bring people together, but his inexperience working with the legislature resulted in a humiliating defeat after fellow Democrats forced him to veto his own campaign promise. Ever since, many observers have questioned if his talents match his ambition.

“Shapiro has long been distracted by national political ambitions, but Pennsylvanians are still waiting for him to show up and deliver on the promises he’s already made.” Telford said.
