School Choice Doesn’t Benefit the Rich—It Levels the Playing Field

School choice benefits only the wealthy—or so the critics claim.

These same naysayers employ this same myth to undermine the commonwealth’s successful tax-credit scholarship programs, the Educational Improvement Tax Credit and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit.

But if not for these programs, the opposite would be true: School choice would exist, but only for families with the financial means to either (1) live in a high-income catchment area with blue-ribbon schools or (2) pay for private-school tuition.
