Jay Stooksberry is Managing Editor at the Commonwealth Foundation.  

A professional writer and editor for over a decade, Jay’s work has appeared in Newsweek, The Washington PostThe Wall Street JournalCity Journal, The Hill, and countless other publications. Before joining the Commonwealth Foundation, Jay regularly contributed to Reason, the Foundation for Economic Education, and the Cato Institute.

When he isn’t writing about politics, he often writes about grammar and style, including an occasional column for Reason and his book, Oxford Mania: Why the Oxford Comma is Wildly Overrated and Cultishly Adored.

Jay holds a bachelor’s degree in political economy and history and a master’s degree in nonprofit management—both from Regis University in Denver, Colorado.

A Colorado native, Jay spends his free time with his unshakable wife, Carrie; his two energetic sons, Hank and Sam; and a menagerie of animals named after food items. He also enjoys traveling, reading, writing, weightlifting, listening to music (preferably live), and remodeling his century-old Victorian-style home.
